    Do building regulations apply to my project?

    As there are comprehensive building regulations and legislation surrounding making alterations to your property, we understand that these may seem daunting. However, there are simple ways to understand whether your project should be assessed by a Registered Building Inspector.

    The gov.uk website states that those who are carrying out the following works on their property will be required to gain compliance against building regulations:

    • The erection or extension of a building
    • The installation or extension of a service or fitting which is controlled under the regulations
    • An alteration project involving work which will temporarily or permanently affect the ongoing compliance of the building, service or fitting with the requirements relating to structure, fire, or access to and use of buildings
    • The insertion of insulation into a cavity wall
    • The underpinning of the foundations of a building
    • Work affecting the thermal elements, energy status or energy performance of a building.

    Our team are licenced by Building safety Regulator (BSR). The BSR and The Welsh Government enable our Registered Building Inspectors to carry out work within England and Wales on a variety of commercial and domestic projects.

    We are an independent team that is responsible for assessing residential building works at various stages, pre-commencement and during construction. Align issue the relevant certification to meet the building regulations.
